Meet Nate Liedl

Clerk of Circuit Court – Chippewa County

Nate Liedl has proudly served as the elected Clerk of Circuit Court for Chippewa County since January 2023. From the moment he stepped into the role, Nate has focused on bringing greater efficiency, accessibility, and accountability to the office. With a deep respect for public service and a strong understanding of the court system, he has worked to ensure that the Clerk’s Office operates smoothly for both legal professionals and the public.

Since taking office, Nate has introduced flexible scheduling for deputy clerks, which has reduced the need for paid time off and increased overall staff satisfaction. He has worked closely with the District Attorney’s Office and local victim advocacy organizations to simplify and improve processes for restraining orders and restitution payments, making the system easier to navigate for those seeking help. In an effort to increase transparency and reduce confusion, Nate also added Temporary Hearings with the Court Commissioner to the public court calendar, helping prevent missed court appearances.

Nate takes pride in being fiscally responsible. In 2024, he successfully reduced the department's budget by over $6,000 while maintaining a high level of service. He also secured funding for technology upgrades that have improved remote access to court proceedings and streamlined daily financial tasks.

Outside the office, Nate is active in the community. He has volunteered at “Stand Against Meth” town halls in Cornell, Bloomer, and Stanley, and represented the Clerk of Court’s Office at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair. In response to staff feedback about advancement opportunities, Nate created “Lead Worker” roles to help recognize and reward leadership among team members. He also enrolled in the Chippewa County Leadership Program through Chippewa Valley Technical College, reflecting his ongoing commitment to growth and public service.

Looking ahead, Nate is dedicated to continuing the progress already made—modernizing systems, supporting court staff, and ensuring that the Clerk of Court’s Office remains a trusted and effective resource for everyone in Chippewa County.
